You have an interview set up, but how should you prepare for it?
This is a short list of the main things that are essential:
1. Carry out in depth research on the company.
2. Plan your journey.
3. Make sure you know who you are going to see and what to expect.
4. Read the job specification and make sure that you understand it.

Having decided you should-:

2. Make sure your CV is the best you can produce, get someone to check it.
3. Make sure your CV contains relevant keywords to make it easier to find.
4. Upload your CV so that recruiters and employers are able to find it.
5. Use the search function to find the jobs that are of interest to you.
6. Save these searches and set up links so that any new jobs are sent to your email inbox - this is a function of nearly every job board.
7. Review your saved searches to make sure that you are receiving the correct jobs.

C. Secure that interview with a winning CV
Your CV has to make an instant impression as recruiters in recruitment agencies, employers and hiring managers only spend a short time evaluating your CV, deciding if they want to read any further.
1. KEY WORDS -Make sure that your CV contains the key words that reflect the job for which you are applying.
2. CUSTOMISE Your CV - You should have a master CV but every job that you apply for will be slightly different so customise your master CV to the specific requirements. This is usually within the Profile and Key Skills sections.
3. KEEP IT SNAPPY – Your CV should be no longer than two pages with your key skills and personal profile on the first page. You need to grab the reader's attention quickly.
4. ACCURATE - No excuses for poor grammar or spelling mistakes check it thoroughly both with a spell checker and by proof-reading. Then ask someone else to check it. It must be the best you can produce.
5. YOUR CV - is a critical component of your job search, so get it right.

D. Interview Research
It is vital that you carry out research on the company prior to interview, as a common interview question is "tell me what you know about our company".
1. COMPANY WEBSITE -Check out the company website so that you are fully aware of products or services that they provide.
2. RESEARCH COMPETITORS - Try and find out where they fit into the local, national or global picture.
3. USE GOOGLE – Find out what other people are saying about them.
4. SOCIAL MEDIA - Use LinkedIn, Facebook or other social networking sites to see what is happening.
